Time your mix transission perfectly It is very easy to get perfect timing every time you mix. There are some set of rules that you must learn and follow. Once you understand and use these rules you then will always have a perfect "timed" mix. So what are these rules? All music is built upon of some sort of rhythmic pattern. There are all sorts of patterns, but we are going to concentrate on 4/4, which is the most common one used in modern dance music. 4/4 means there is four beats to a bar, and 4 bars in 1 segment. In house music the kikdrum is always on each beat within a bar, 1-2-3-4, and the snare or clap is on 2 and 4. Try counting while listening to a house track. The famous open hihat in housemusic is layered on a offbeat, which means it is between the kik drums. So how are the music structured? Normally you will hear a noticeable change after the start of the 1`st segment(8 bars or 32 beats), almost all songs are built on blocks of 2 segments. You should therefore always start your mix on the first beat of the 1`st segment. Might sound a bit complicated, but when you listen to the music you will understand what I mean and get a hang of it. If you follow this rule you will always mix with perfect timing. I always start cueing the record on the right beat, and then I mix it straight in , this way you can mix fast and on time.
